Introduction
Proper installation ensures your aero performs and looks as designed. Even the best carbon fiber component can fail prematurely if fitted without care. Use these proven techniques for professional-grade results.
1. Mock-Up & Alignment
- Test-fit all parts before removing tape liners or tightening bolts.
- Use painter’s tape to mark edges, align gaps and verify clearances.
- Check door, trunk, and wheel-arch clearances before final fit.
2. Protect the Work Area
- Mask surrounding panels to avoid scratches.
- Use fender covers and microfiber towels around work surfaces.
- Keep sharp edges of carbon pieces wrapped until installation.
3. Installation by Part Type
Front Lips / Splitters
- Combine adhesive tape with bolts or screws for load-bearing strength.
- Begin at the center and work outward evenly.
- Use washers or bonded inserts to distribute load and prevent cracking.
- Hand tighten all fasteners, no power tools.
Side Skirts
- Test fit first and ensure it is correct for where it is being installed and correct side.
- Align from the rear wheel arch forward for best panel match, tape in place if needed.
- Peel back 1-2” of the liner so once the skirt is held in place, you simply grab and pull.
- Support the skirt during curing with painter’s tape or clamps.
Rear Diffusers & Canards
- Mock up all hardware loosely, then tighten from the center out.
- Press taped areas first before securing bolts to prevent stress points.
- Hand tighten all fasteners, no power tools.
4. Fitment Techniques
- Apply light heat to help tape conform around curves.
- Surfaces must be clean, dry, and wax-free.
- Never force a carbon part into alignment—stress leads to cracks.
- For track use, consider rivnuts or polyurethane adhesive for extra retention.
5. Final Checks
- Verify uniform gaps and clean off tape residue.
- Re-torque hardware after first drive.
- Avoid moisture exposure for 24–48 hours while adhesives cure.
